What New York schools can I go to for Computer Animation?

What New York schools can I go to for Computer Animation?
I'd like to do computer animation so I can be a Pixar animator but I have to stay in New York. My first choice is the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan but I just want to have a back up or 2 in case I don't get in. Any ideas?

Good choice, I'm a Film major at SVA and it is an excellent school! For a second choice though, check out Pratt or NYU's Tish school of the arts, they both are very good schools in Manhattan that offer 3D animation as well. Tish can be very hard to get into though, but it's worth the shot, Good luck!

Is using student MetroCard legal on non-school days at New York City?

Is using student MetroCard legal on non-school days at New York City?
I use my Student MetroCard on non-school days. For example: in spring vacation. But I don't know whether it is legal or illegal in New York City.

It's probably not recommended, but if it was illegal, your card wouldn't be applicable in their system. If they don't have student cards deactivated during non-school day's, it's their loss. They can't take the card from you, because you'd have no way of getting to school. It'd be their loss. They probably figure most people won't overuse it, since they aren't supposed to. Or they may be looking to cut kid's a break. There's a lot of ''gray territory'' laws that exist out there that never are applied. My dad's a retired cop, but still shows his shield to the people who work in the stations and they always let him through. I read one time that you could get a $25 fine for spitting on the ground, but how many cop's actually enforce that?

yes

Student MetroCards - The holidays and vacation usage ban is not enforced electronically by the fare collection system, but sporadically enforced by the Transit Police and very rarely MTA employees (when used at a subway turnstile, an indicator lights up). Rides do not roll over. Some schools that have activities on Sundays or late at night have cards valid until 10:30 pm and on Sundays. Some schools and youth agencies will give out one time use cards that have a 1-4 rides on them for special events like field trips and extraordinary trips like to an afterschool program or social programs or parole officer meetings, these card can not be refilled and will not get recharged after their rides are up and are effectively disposable. Students that attend special night school who live far from thei

How can my son attend a New York City public elementary school outside of his district?

How can my son attend a New York City public elementary school outside of his district?
My son and I have recently moved to Manhattan, New York from rural Missouri and I want to enroll him in a public elementary school. We live in Harlem and unfortunately schools in the area lack cultural diversity with the entire student body consisting of African Americans. I want my son to be exposed to many not just one group of people. Is there a way that I can register my son in another school outside my district? Are there any legal precedents or can I register my son in the school district where I work?

The best one is probably at Hunter College.

Hi there, Why not check out the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at CCNY? From my understanding, it is a innovative 5 year BS-MD program which integrates undergraduate education with the first couple years of med school. You basically start at CCNY, but end up finishing your last two years with various medical schools associated with CCNY. Check out the website: http://www1.ccny.cuny.edu/prospective/med/ If interested, give it shot! -Suburban Dana

Yes, I think anything in NY is good and prestigious and looked at quite nicely.

2
NYU is a great school. Check out their website and CollegeBoard. They have an excellent communications department (and Tisch Film School, if you decide to go that path).

3
NYU is a good school, very well ranked and well known as well. It's very big, and it doesn't really have a campus. It is also notoriously stingy with financial aid. Other schools in NYC that are good for journalism include: Columbia Barnard College (this is an all-girls' college, but you can take classes at Columbia, and graduate with a Columbia degree, and it is much easier to get into than Columbia) Fordham Hofstra (this is just outside of NYC, but pretty good in journalism) Marymount Manhattan College (communications/journalism is very popular there) Also, if you're willing to go upstate, then Syracuse is very well known for journalism, and is still only a couple of hours away from New York City.

4
nyu is a good school, but i personally think it's overrated. it's also extremely expensive and known for giving horrid financial aid. columbia, barnard, fordham, ithaca college, and syracuse university are also in new york state with strong journalism programs. a newer one is suny stony brook, but if you're out of state it's a public school that's not particularly well regarded or well known out of ny.

Why does New York have disgusting school food?

Why does New York have disgusting school food?
Ugh I HATE SCHOOL FOOD! But I cant pack lunch that's the problem. But still why does New York have disgusting school food? I mean the chicken nuggets I ate one time weren't really cooked! they were still frozen! and my friend took a bite out of her pb&j sand which and she found a worm half bitten! and later got really sick and had to be sent home! How come New York has the most disgusting food? how come in like Arizona they have salad bars and good food?

huh? when i was in high school, we had dominos pizza and crispy chicken... i never had no gross food.

2
Depending on the school. I go to the Culinary Institute of America and they serve gourmet food to the student. Today for lunch they bbq ed A whole pig for about 14 hours and served that. it was amazing.

3
Well a couple of years ago my school took away our salad bar and water so all we were left with was basically crap. Sooo My friend and I decided to petition to get it back and we did =) You could always try that. Its not necessarily the state. It's more the school. Much Love. Emilie <3 Oh yeah, I live in Florida =D

4
Yeah they do have bad food. Get your parents to petition to get better food, contact the PTO, and get the kids to all sign a petition, but be specific as to what you want, don't just say something like "get better food." The chicken patties always have bone chips in them. It's gross, and the hamburgers are rubber. The salad boxes are gone before anything else and even THEY don't taste good. Why can't you pack lunch? That's the best, even if you had to PB&J it with an apple or something, from your own house. Better than taking a chance on biting into something uncooked or alive. That is gross and not funny. Unfortunately, I agree though, I've seen it. Do all of what I said above and you can get things changed there. (be ware though: no matter how good the food is, you also have to worry about the people they hire to cook and serve it. Enough said.)

Sry but I have great food at my school.

Whoever said New Yorkers can cook? How about those huge, greasy street hot dogs they wolf down? Yech!

The New School is actually a bunch of schools bundled together. And without knowing what your area of interest is, it's hard to say. But I can tell you Parsons, Eugene Lang and The Drama School are more picky than the Ivies, in terms of what they look for in an ideal candidate. Overall, The New School is a highly competitive and highly desirable college. Which means they are in a position to be incredibly selective. The New School for General Studies The New School for Social Research Parsons The New School for Design Milano The New School for Management and Urban Policy Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts Mannes College The New School for Music The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music The New School for Drama

Check your city and county websites for available funding. You will probably need to get a fiscal sponsor (a 501(c)3 organization) that will administer the grant money since you are not a nonprofit. You can also search for available grants at our website (free!) under "Youth Development" in New York. The database lists grants for nonprofit organizations, but maybe you'll get some ideas for what is out there. http://www.grantgopher.com

Does New York University School of Medicine accept Transfers or Advanced Standing in to their 3rd year classes?

Does New York University School of Medicine accept Transfers or Advanced Standing in to their 3rd year classes?
Although a 3rd year slot would be the best match, I would not object to a 2nd year slot. Some schools have transfer applications on the web, however I have found no such forms on the NYU SOM website. Other schools require a letter of intent before they provide application materials. I have found no information on their transfer policies nor how to best initiate contact.

Not every med school accepts transfer students. What I'd have you do re: NYU is contact them directly. Call their admissions department. You are going to a US med school, correct? Because no US med school accepts transfers from foreign med schools.

luckkyy ive alllways wanted to live in new york! but anyways uhmm depends on where your moving. if your moving in like mahattan they dress veryyy expensive and stuff hahah not like abercrombie or anything but like high class. but if your moving in like the city they dont dress very nice i dont think.. haha sorry never really been to the cityy

2
all of them wear abercrombie and fitch, hollister, and american eagle. In manhattan, thats where i go to school, they shop at sak's fifth avenue, anthropologie, barneys, and especially bloomingdales. they like to call it bloomies and they love it. But all the clothes in these stores are more than a $100 for a shirt. Otherwise just buy abercrombie, hollister, and american eagle which are all cheap brands. everyone wheres it. These three cheaper brands are best suited for public schools, but work anywhere. The other, more expensive stores should only be for those in manhattan and those who go to private schools there since they are filled with rich kids. the average private school in manhattan is $30,000 a year and up so its hard to blend in with their expensive clothes. I go to one on a scholarship though so I'm able to buy expensive clothes. Don't worry about what you wear, you are in middle school. Start caring in high school. Some people in middle school are still shopping at limited too. Plus you grow out of your clothes fast. Save your money for the more designer ones everyone will have in high school. Im 17 and lived here my whole life by the way.

3
Well, I live in New York and I'm in middle school. Everyone sort of have their own style, so I think you will be just fine.

4
hey there, I'm quiet not sure, but If I had to guess, probably more urban wear...hip-hop, that sort of thing....
