In NYS, you need to get a BS in education. You will need to get your masters in education as well. You need to pass a series of exams. 6 years total generally. Here is the NYS website on certification http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/certificate/certprocess.htm New york certification is one of the hardest to get. Once you get certified in NY, you can teach anywhere. Teachers get recruited from NY all of the time. I live in upstate new york. The SUNY system is wonderful. Great education, lower tuition. Buffalo state, fredonia and Geneseo are great choices http://www.suny.edu/Student/campuses_complete_list.cfm You may want to consider a combo of special ed and el ed.

Stay in the EU, it's hard enough for teachers in the States to get jobs!!!!!

Columbia University is excellent. You will need a BA ad if you teach at at secondary school you will need a prescribed number of credits in various groupings. If you teach in elementary school you will need a number of elementary education classes. For secondary schools you will also need various education classes. Passing of the Praxis examination is necessary for both. You may also need a number of graduate credits./.

Hi I'm from the UK and at the moment i'm applying for drama school i'm guessing if your in 8th grade your around 13-14ish if i'm right?. Ok what I would suggest is that before you get swept up in the glamourous side of the Acting world you need to think long and hard. This industry is hard, brutual and extremely tiring so you need to know that you have the dedication and passion for it. You're in credibly young still so if your planning on being the best and REALLY want it then try and use these as a kind of helper 1.) Practice, Study, Practice...Seriously keep studying and practicing your craft. I'm not saying do it until you feel like your head might explode but if your planning to be the best it's essential. 2.) Read as many plays as possible, if you are cash strapped like moi then charity shops are like the Holy Grail and you can pick up some obscure plays and odnate to a good cause 3.) Go and see as many plays as possible in the uk we have a scheme called A Night Less Ordinary which gives free tickets to 16-26 years olds so call up your local theatres and see what their saying. Even if it's a school production your still keeping your mind active. 4.) Read and research as many playwrights as possible whether it be Shakespeare, Tom Stoppard, David Mamet, Shelagh Stephenson...Wikipedia is a godsend aswell. 5.) Find out the names of your local theatres and see if they have a youth group. Now in NYC i know they have the AADA but that is pretty much for 18+ I know they have Summer Programmes but these are expensive but if you can put pen to paper and write to as many charities as possible if you got a place cool. Also try and get "life experience" very rarely will you meet a young actress who can draw out tremendous emotions without getting some life experience. It's not to sound mean but alot of drama schools in the UK reject young applicants because they don't have enough experience so tahts why i'm just giving some hnts so when you hit 18 you have all these things under your belt. I hope this helps and good luck, stay positive and determined! =)

Public performing arts high schools are for NYC residents only. Go to high school locally, read read read, do the school plays, and reevaluate when you are in senior year.

Are there any school in New York City with the really cool preppy uniforms?
Are there any school in New York City with the really cool preppy uniforms?
I really like the uniforms the way they're portrayed in like "Gossip Girl" and "Legally Blondes". Is there a real life school in New York City with uniforms like that??? Preferably a school that goes from Pre-K or Kindergarten to 12th grade...???

Please, don't force your kid into becoming a preppy bitch. The scum of society and schools everywhere.
2
definitely base your/your childs educational career on a uniform, clearly youre mature enough to make such a decision
3
I wore a uniform just like that from pre-k to 12th grade, and am perfectly "normal" and not into the snobbish life, so don't listen to everybody that immediately jumps to the conclusion that just because you wore a "preppy" uniform, you are a snob today. Talk about being judgmental. And I could recommend you to the Convent of the Sacred Heart on 1 East 91st street, but I'm not sure if I could recommend you it in terms of educational value. I went to a sister school, and had to wear your quintessential school girl outfit.

What is a good fashion school in New York?
What is a good fashion school in New York?
I want desperately to go to school for fashion design, and I'd love to go to school in New York (I know, I know, how unique). Only problem is, all of the major schools like FIT and Parsons seem to get pretty iffy reviews. And I don't want to spend 40,000 bucks a year on an questionable education. So, what are some good schools to go to for fashion design in your experience? It doesn't just have to be in New York, I'm open to pretty much any place on the East Coast.

"I want desperately to go to school for fashion design" Do you desperately want to be unemployed? ALL Fashion School lead to unemployment, perhaps preceded by short periods of low-pay, high-pressure, dead-end internships. Find something serious to study. Incidentally, who is paying for these fashion fantasies? Your parents?

Whats is a GREAT art school in New York for photography, film, and fashion?
Whats is a GREAT art school in New York for photography, film, and fashion?
Im moving back to New York next year around this time, and I really need to find a college to go to. Im already taking some classes up at Valley College here in California, but I need to know about an art school, the BEST one, or at least ONE of the best. Not to mention an apratment. I remember when I used to live there in Brooklyn, The Bronx, and Harlem, the rent was ridiculous, but now its just insane! Anyone know about apartments and art schools, please help out, I'd really appreciate it. An art school for photography, film, fashion, and writing, and an apartment. HELP ME! Thanks.

At one time FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) offered photography classes. Look online for their course catalogue. Columbia and NYU have very good film programs. Do NOT go to the NY Film Academy, they're awful and you won't learn anything.
2
The School of Visual arts is a great school and its in a really cool neighboorhood. I would try Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, the rents are still really decent there. good luck.

The best school for all three artistic endeavors is Parsons school of design(this is the same school that hosts Project Runway). Being one of the best if not the best means that it is not cheap and it is not exactly easy to get into. However, if you think rent is insane in New York, wait till you find out about the tuition fees at Parsons.
