NYC public schools are in a hiring freeze, and I need a job in Elementary Education. Where do I start when trying to find jobs in private schools in the Queens/ Long Island area of New York?

I dont know about New York.But if you cant find a job in a school,consider hiring yourself out as a tutor,start your own business and set your own hours and pay. we live in a small town inky and there is a lady here that started a tutoring agency in her home.she is doing quite well with it.very profitable.this is her only means of income and she has a l ovely home and a nice car! jsut something to think about! good lluck

I've never heard of a medical high school. You don't start studying medicine until after you have a 4-year college degree - that's when you apply to medical school. Maybe you're looking for a magnet math and science school instead.

I need a good new york boarding school?
I need a good new york boarding school?
im 15 and i am looking to go to a boarding school in new york. i hate my school now and i just want to leave my family and go to new york. i want to do it i just dont know how or where to look. i need a place really not tht expensive...affordable...pleasseee help

Well, look at the source listed. I'll have to say: Out of those schools listed, I only recognized 1: The Emma Willard School. That's a really, really good school, but it's girls-only which some people don't like. Anyways, historically, the oldest(and most well-known) boarding schools have been in the north-east, & HADES (Hotchkiss, Andover, Deerfield, Exeter and St. Paul's) which are the 5 elite boarding schools (not that I'm saying there aren't others out there: There ARE!) are all in the North-east, I believe, & besides, you're boarding so that shouldn't be an issue.. The only problem is getting in. Bahaha. Anyways, good luck! By the way, Emma Willard really is a great school. Do some research on it, you can't really go wrong! If you're looking for affordable, boarding schools are in no way affordable unless you get financial aid. Also, boarding schools are not a retreat for students who "hate their families". There are a serious place to learn and play at the same time, so if you're looking to hide from your problems, BS is not the place to go! Also, to the poster who answered before me, Nightingdale Bamford is not a boarding school, it's an elite private day. Yeah.. anyways, if your parents are being abusive call child services instead of going to BS. It's not a haven for children that get sent away by their families, it's for motivated kids who are eager to learn.. Good luck!

You will find that many schools are either all-boys or all-girls, like Emma Willard. Some will be seminarian schools, military academies, some will concentrate on religion and others will be secular. It's better to start out with a general search than to read about a school and love it, and then find out that it's impossible for you to attend the school because its all-boys/all-girls. Affordability is always an issue when considering boarding schools. Most boarding schools in the U.S. are between $30,000 and $35,000 per year, while some will go upwards of $40,000/year. It's not an issue if you have a history of near-perfect grades and if you have the ability to keep those grades at a near-perfect level while at boarding school. Financial aid at most U.S. boarding schools is offered if your parents' annual income is below a certain level, for example, at Exeter you get a free ride if your parents make less than $75,000/year; obviously, schools will have different policies. On the flip side, if your grades are not that great, or not great at all, you are left with very few, if any, options. Student loans are rarely offered for boarding school and boarding schools that do offer student loans are usually concentrated on profit over quality of education. At risk of sounding impertinent, I would then advise you to contact a wealthy relative or family friend, otherwise, paying for boarding school would be next to impossible. "Affordable" and "boarding school" are words that you will rarely, if ever, find in the same sentence, unfortunately. Who monitors New York School Bus Transportation and laws for Public School Transportation?
My son had detention today, he took the 4 pm bus home. At first he called to say that I had to pick him up because the bus driver did not want to drive him home. When I called the school, the bus driver was made to take him, however, she dropped him off about a 1/2 mile away from the house. We live on a very busy main road with absolutely no shoulder. She had to pass by the house anyway. I saw her myself doing about 60 mph. Then I saw my son walking down the road, jumping out of the way when a car would wizz by. I don't think this is okay and want to research it before I go crazy on the bus company. Thanks.

But a better approach might be to contact an organization concerned with pupil safety on the bus (see the second link.) Maybe you can get them involved to help you out. That said, you should talk to the bus driver first. Maybe she had a good reason for dropping your child where she did. It may not be out and out negligence. She can only do so much. School bus driver is truly the world's most unappreciated job. Most are only trying to do the right thing.
